Electric Restoration Work Continues for Northern Wisconsin WPS Customers
Green Bay, WI – Crews working to restore power to Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) territory have reduced the number currently without power to just over 3,300 customers – down from a high of more than 18,000 customers after last evening's storms.
The areas of restoration work are concentrated now on the Wabeno area, with about 1,200 customers still without electricity, and Wausaukee, where about 2,100 customers remain without power.
The restoration work will continue well into the evening in an effort to get all customers restored as soon as possible. WPS hopes to have nearly everyone turned back on by midnight, but it is possible that work could continue tomorrow morning.
Customers and media with access to the Internet can track storm restoration efforts on the WPS website at www.wisconsinpublicservice.com. Access the "Report an Outage or Service Problem" icon in the lower right and then "View Current Electric Outages."
Customers with a damaged service line to their residence may need to hire a local electrical contractor to repair their facility before WPS will be able to restore power.
WPS restoration crews, public safety officials and everyone involved in the restoration effort are asking for everyone to be patient and safe while work continues.
